Finalists Exhibition

The Artists of Mallorca Art Prize Finalists Exhibition got off to a great start last night (11 September) in the Museu de Soller. 150 people came out to support the artists and vote for their favourite, and they were really impressed once again by the standard of art being made on the island. With only one vote each, they were struggling to choose.

2 of the judges, Miguel Angel Delgado and Natalia Spitale were also there for a first look at the work in situe, and they both said that they were having to rethink their original choices, and had no idea who they would finally select. Fortunately, they have time to visit the gallery and really consider all of the work.

Saturday is market day in Sóller, so lots of people combined their visit to the market with a trip to the exhibition.

Voting continues until Friday 25 September during the opening hours of the gallery:

Monday to Friday 10.00 - 14.00

Wednesday to Friday 18.00 - 20.00

Saturday 11.00 - 13.00

It was great to have the chance to talk to people last night, even if briefly due to the crowd, and it was lovely to hear so many saying that they really like the vote, particularly as it makes people really look at the art.

It is also highly amusing to see everyone shaking the tins trying to work out who has had the most votes!
