Last night, Saturday 26 September, in the Museu de Sóller, we finally found out who the winner of the Artists of Mallorca Art Prize 2026 and the winner of the Artists of Mallorca Eleccion Popular 2026 are.

The jury made their selection after a lot of discussion and deliberation. Having such a variety of styles and disciplines does not make for an easy choice, but this year proved to be the most difficult to date. Each judge had a different view , and the negotiations took a long time, then Sens Titulo 2 by Cati Gual was the chosen piece. It is an abstract work , in acrylic, representing turbulence with the use of lines and light and shade. Congratulations, Cati!

We counted the votes for the Eleccion Popular on Friday night, and had to recount some as the result was so close! The work with the most votes was Tarde en Mallorca by Niko Mosko, a beautiful impressionist style painting showing a plaça in Mallorca in the afternoon light. Congratulations Niko!

The top 4 were within 4 votes of the winner, which is the closest the election has ever been.

It was really interesting for me to chat to people when they were in the gallery to vote, and hear the thoughts on the various works, and it became clear that there was not going to be a runaway winner this year. Thanks to everyone who came along to vote, it really means a lot to the artists to have the support.

It was once more fantastic to see so many people in the Museum to find out who the winners were, and to enjoy the exhibition for the final time. It was a really enjoyable evening. Congratulations again to Cati and Niko!
