Alexa Bosse

Biography Alexa Bosse: Born in a small town in Northern Germany, I began studying social sciences and philosophy at the University of Hanover after graduating from high school. However, after two years, I dropped out to explore the world beyond Germany. I first lived in London for three years, in Notting Hill and Leyton. Traveling through Europe in a converted Ford camper van, I eventually landed in Madrid, where I lived in the Chueca district for several years and worked as a press photographer for Cambio 16 magazine. People and their behavior, as well as the artwork we create to better understand ourselves, have always fascinated me. Eventually, I returned to my homeland. There I met my husband, and there my two children were born. As a family of four, we moved to the Netherlands, where we lived on the Nederrijn for twelve years. 2022 we decided to make our longheld dream reality and moved to Mallorca – the magic island many consider the most beautiful in the world. Here, in Margarita Fonollá's Argila studio in Palma, I began working with ceramics, where I created the pieces in the "Love of the Sea" series. At the same time, I created my paintings in the "Life in Color" series after surviving a life-threatening illness. I learned not to take life too seriously, but to live each day with joy and gratitude. The paintings from this period have a childlike quality and are deliberately styled like comic strips, because I view life from a new, playful perspective. Now I paint what moves me in everyday life: a portrait of my mother, who is becoming increasingly demented in the distance; my daughter at boxing practice; the house in the country that I dream of but cannot afford…
