Teaching myself to paint for the last 20 years, and learning new media, techniques, drafting, the elements of design, as well as immersing in the meditative nature of painting, I feel finally I am ready to explore more consciously what I want to say with my work. Looking back on the last 4 years of painting abstract, I can feel a common thread. If I were to put that into words, I would say my work is about isolation. I always thought the aesthetic was about calmness. And while that does play a role and is something I relish, I think there is also a degree of isolation, and solitude.
