Svetla Staykova(1982) is a Bulgarian-born artist currently living in Mallorca. Graduated with Fine Arts in her homeland and after over a decade of living in London, as well as in Italy, Svetla also had numerous visits to Mallorca until her love for the beautiful island grew permanent. She now lives and creates here while exploring Mallorca's rich variety of flora and fauna, as well as its Mediterranean legends and myths. Svetla's artistic journey aims to create images - reflections of the ancient myths, of legends, images that tell stories and carry the mysterious charm of our surroundings. Her works are weaved with the love for Mythos, Alchemy and carry a deep admiration of Nature's beauty.

The legends say Hippokampoi were the mounts of Nereid nymphs and sea-gods. These mythical creatures appear in the Homeric poems as the symbol of Poseidon, whose chariot was drawn over the surface of the sea by two or four of them. This fish-tailed horse of the sea is strongly associated with creativity and imagination. It also symbolizes true love, grace, loyalty, humility and freedom which here are pouring out of its Horn of plenty.
