The concept of a palimpsest allows me to allude to the layers of time and events - in this case, the rivulet marks left in a sandy dry riverbed that eventually expose fossils deposited in times past.

Posidonia, so vital to our Mediterranean sea's health, has many stages in its life, from green fronds (which I drew as an under drawing in Polychromos) to its broken stems cast up on winter shores. I used palimpsest as a way to refer to these different stages in the posidonia's life cycle.
