Leo O´Donnell

Im an enthusiastic hiker and alot of my work involves me walking with my sketchbook and creating images in the moment, where ever that may be. I later take these sketches and start cutting the image into a piece of lino in my little studio. The most exciting aspect about working in relief printmaking is that I never know how the piece will look until I peel back the page to reveal work. After all these years the sense of anticipation before ‘the reveal’ is what it is all about.

I drew this image on a walk to Llucalcari. Later in my studio I finalised my drawing and made a 6 colour reduction lino print. I always print by hand using my trusty wooden spoon to apply pressure.
